IMPORTANT RELATED MATERIAL: Joshua Wolf (born June 8, 1982) is an American video blogger, freelance journalist and filmmaker[1] who was jailed by a Federal district court on August 1, 2006 for refusing to turn over a collection of videotapes he recorded during a July 2005 demonstration in San Francisco, California. Wolf, a video activist who reported on numerous protest and progressive events, videotaped an anti-G8 anarchist protest in San Francisco on July 8, 2005 in which the protesters wore masks to hide their identities. Later that same night, and over the next few days, Wolf posted edited clips of his video to a local activist news website, Bay Area Indymedia (Indybay)…Wolf’s videotape is the only known source material from the protest to have been sought by subpoena after refusal to turn it over. Palestine: a policy of deliberate blindness
Last year President Jacques Chirac asked Régis Debray to study the situation in the Middle East. On 15 January 2007 Debray sent the French authorities the following document on Palestine. It is an important key to understanding a long policy drift whose results are now obvious.
Dennis Ross, formerly the United States envoy to the Middle East, admitted back in 2000 that mistakes had been made in the 1978 Camp David accords: the diplomatic process had not taken enough account of developments on the ground, especially the settlements. The number of Jewish settlers in the Palestinian territories doubled from 1994 to 2000. As many Israelis have settled in the West Bank since the Oslo accords of 1993 as in the previous 25 years. With an international conference again being discussed, it would be a mistake to continue to ignore the real state of affairs. There is no need for a committee of inquiry. The report has already been drawn up, many times over. No conflict in the world is as well documented, mapped and recorded. Dear Sir,
My family was one of Hitler’s victims. We lost a lot under the Nazi occupation, including an uncle who died in the camps and a cousin killed by a booby trap. I was terrified when my father went ballistic after finding my brother and me playing with a hand grenade. (I was only 12 at the time, and my brother insisted the grenade was safe.) I remember the rubble and the hardships of ‘austerity’ - and the bomb craters from Allied bombs. As late as the 1980s, I had to take detours while bombs were being removed - they litter the countryside, buried under parking lots, buildings, and in the canals and rivers to this day. Believe me, I learned a lot about Hitler while I was growing up, both in Europe and here in the US - both my parents were in the war and talked about it constantly, unlike most American families. I spent my earliest years with the second-hand fear that trickled down from their PTSD - undiagnosed and untreated in those days. Continue reading ‘CLASSIC ESSAYS: The Bush Hitler Thing’
Bush Nazi Link Confirmed

Jokes may not be too far from the mark when one studies the historical record, most of it carefully kept under wraps for decades.
PART ONE
WASHINGTON - After 60 years of inattention and even denial by the U.S. media, newly-uncovered government documents in The National Archives and Library of Congress reveal that Prescott Bush, the grandfather of President George W. Bush, served as a business partner of and U.S. banking operative for the financial architect of the Nazi war machine from 1926 until 1942, when Congress took aggressive action against Bush and his “enemy national” partners. Courtesy is one thing, but did Pelosi have to applaud so…enthusiastically?
NOTE from CJO editors: When it happens, Americans won’t be able to say they didn’t get enough warnings. The lights are being shut off in this nation, one by one, while most of the public remains glassy-eyed, glued to the latest idiocy performed by one of the innumerable decadent movie starlets of this patethically self-indulgent culture. And as the Constitution gets torn asunder, piece by piece, don’t count on that old hypocritical whore, the corporate media, or the US Congress, to sound the alarm. If anything, given their abject careerism, incurable stupidity, and disconnection from the realities that define life for most people, they can be counted on to compound the problem by serving as propaganda megaphones for the tyrants in the making. Here’s some of the accumulating signs that catastrophe is imminent unless we serve notice to the usurpers in Washington that the American people will not allow the Constitution and what remains of our democracy to be buried under a wave of manufactured pretexts. Our fear that communism might someday
take over most of the world blinds us to the fact that anti-communism already has.–Michael Parenti(1)
It was in the early days of the fighting in Vietnam that a Vietcong officer said to his American prisoner: “You were our heroes after the War. We read American books and saw American films, and a common phrase in those days was “to be as rich and as wise as an American”. What happened?” (2) Continue reading ‘A brief history of the Cold War and anti-communism’

In politics, as in medicine, a cure based on a false diagnosis is almost always worthless, often worsening the condition that is supposed to be healed. The United States, today, suffers from a plethora of public ills. Most of them can be traced to the militarism and imperialism that have led to the near-collapse of our Constitutional system of checks and balances. Unfortunately, none of the remedies proposed so far by American politicians or analysts addresses the root causes of the problem. Continue reading ‘Can We End the American Empire Before It Ends Us?’

Michael Parenti
Michael Parenti is an internationally known speaker and award winning author of 20 books and hundreds of articles. He’s also a noted academic having taught at a number of colleges and universities in the US and abroad.
Parenti is also one of the nation’s leading progressive political analysts and social critics. He strongly opposes US imperialism, the shredding of our civil liberties, decline of our social state, and the Bush Doctrine of preventive wars on the world for predatory capitalism’s need for new markets, resources and cheap exploitable labor. THE TRUTH NETWORK
BY PETER CHAMBERLIN
We the People have “freedom of the press,” but we do not have a free press.
We have a right to speak out and to assemble, but we don’t know what to say, or where to say it. The Internet is opening a path for us to change these deficiencies.
The Internet will replace the mainstream media, if the First Amendment survives the ceaseless assault being waged upon the Constitution in the name of facilitating the “war on terror.” The overlooked ideology of the Internet is an extremely patriotic American nationalism, driving a free market of truth, mixed-in with freely expressed opinions and ideas. The Internet is the only source of actual “news,” in our land of the corporate media. Continue reading ‘THE TRUTH NETWORK’
Whose Rights?
BY STEPHEN GOWANS | Simulposted at What’s Left
In a truly well-organized world, this mugshot would be no joke. Karl Rove and his masters and associates are indeed political criminals of the worst kind.
It is widely believed in the Western world that respect for civil and political liberties is more highly advanced in the United States and among countries of the Anglo-American orbit than it is anywhere else. The idea is so deeply ingrained that even egregious abuses of human rights by the US government (most recently in connection with the “war on terror”) are insufficient to discredit the fiction among US citizens that their government is the world’s principal human rights champion. While the US government has been criticized by such human rights organizations as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, the criticisms have been made in the context of concern that the US is squandering its human rights moral authority – criticism that serves to reinforce the dogma, not challenge it.
