"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."

JASON MILLER is Cyrano's Journal Online's Associate Editor. In addition to this task, Jason edits Thomas Paine's Corner, a widely recognized personal blog dedicated to advancing universal human rights, fostering social and economic justice, and supporting the cause of all oppressed, exploited, and impoverished human beings on our Earth. And Jason is also a dedicated defender of animals from human exploitation.
In Jason's own words, "Thomas Paine's Corner is not a vehicle for self promotion. The banner clearly states this site's purpose. Its publisher makes no disingenuous (Fox News) claims of "objectivity". Thomas Paine's Corner exists unfettered by the undue influence of corporate sponsors or advertisers. It is a non-profit (actually non-income) endeavor. Participation via commentary is open to all. No comments will be censored or deleted. Submissions for publication are welcome." Nobly edited, this is one of Cyranos' favorite political-cultural commentary sites, anywhere, and, naturally, a fraternal site.
CAROLYN BAKER INTERVIEWS JASON MILLER "I recently became a vegetarian because of the abject cruelty of factory farming and because meat production is deleterious to the human race and to Earth..." [1.07]
"[W]hat galls many about the United States is the hubristic set of pernicious and enduring myths that portray our nation so disingenuously. Since the founding of our so-called republic, textbook authors, historians, teachers, our government, the mainstream media, and the moneyed elite have striven tenaciously to convince the working class, the rest of the world, and perhaps even themselves of our moral superiority and exemplary virtue..."
Like the Roman Emperors, our corporate overlords provide their loyal subjects, with panem et circenses. While hundreds of thousands of human beings (including US Americans) are dying to advance United States geopolitical interests in Central Asia and the Middle East, many US Americans are more concerned with Peyton Manning’s prowess under center, LaDainian Tomlinson’s bushel basketfuls of touchdowns, or T.O.’s latest outrageous escapade.
BIG BROTHER DOESN'T PRACTICE FRATERNAL LOVE Contrary to the great American myths, all of the founding fathers were not created equal. Men like Thomas Paine, the intellectual catalyst of the American Revolution, argued for the abolition of slavery, social justice, democratic principles, and human rights. Others, such as John Adams and Alexander Hamilton, harbored contempt for populist notions and pressed for a government dominated by pecunious individuals.

No Honor Among Murderers
["Left behind also are his rejoicing murderers…the incumbent US President, the British Prime minister and, to a varying degree, a host of other Western leaders. The poetic irony is that his executioners were once Saddam’s bosom buddies too. As many as 100,000 Kurds were killed in 1988. Why then was Saddam tried by a kangaroo court and executed for killing 148 men and boys in the Shiite town of Dujail in 1982?..."]
Of foremost interest is the intriguing fact as to how the tiny Jewish world populace, only 14 million on the entire planet, has the almost 1.4 billion Muslim mass of this same planet like a rabbit in a boa constrictor’s choking hold.
